Natural fibre recyled cotton insulation in fashion
Sophie Molyneux is studying Fashion Design at Falmouth University. Her work is primarily inspired by the concept of compulsive art – creating abstract pieces exploring sculptural form in relation to the body. Natural fibre recyled cotton insulation was the primary and the principal inspiration for her final collection. Eco friendly, soft to touch and an all round stunning aesthetic.
Sophie explains: “Natural fibre recyled cotton insulation insulation provoked the concept of an egg in my work: the idea of an ovular whole containing and insulating a beautiful core. I created a collection that not only distorted the body, but contained colours that could not all be seen from the outside shell. To compliment the insulation, I have used natural and organic fabrics that have not been dyed but hand coloured using crayon thus furthering my continuous search for alternative processes in fashion design.”
